The Charter Class of 14 Starfish mentors received symbolic graduation pins upon completion of a very well designed and professionally presented training program conducted at the library Sept. 18 and 19. The Starfish Executive Board: Lois Manookian, Judy Tole, Ellen Neill-Dore and Mary O’Meara produced a thoughtfully conceived training course complete with a 52-page mentor’s handbook that includes everything that prospective volunteer mentors would ever need to know.

The first class of mentor trainees included Carl Aplin, Jeanne Drevas-Aplin, Mary Anne Biggs, Lee Bird, Diana Bird, John Byam, Meghan Fairbrother, Margaret Gottlieb, Sid Gottlieb, Jenny Hickey, Jim Hickey, Sharon Kilpatrick, Bob Scott and Linda Wright.

An evening session on Sept. 18 included a most enthusiastic welcome by Manookian followed by an introduction to the handbook by Tble.
