withdraws

request for

bed and

breakfast

BY LEE COGHLAN

Rappahannock News Staff Writer

At the Rappahannock County Planning Commission meeting on Dec. 15, Richard Newcomer withdrew his application for a bed and breakfast after considerable opposition from neighbors was presented. The proposed bed and breakfast was to be located on Valhalla Trail, off of Route 640 (Battle Mountain Road).

Newcomer’s main concern was traffic on the narrow road and felt that would be his neighbor’s concerns as well. He said, “The road is wide enough for two vehicles, but for people who are not used to smaller country roads, I think some people might get a little nervous passing cars. We would be willing to construct, at our expense, two passing areas at locations that would be mutually agreeable with the other homeowners.”
