Rev. Phillip Bailey

Accomplishments: Rev. Phillip W. Bailey was born in Lynchburg, and graduated from E.C. Glass High School, Lynchburg College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. He has served four churches here in the state of Virginia, his last being his present position at Washington Baptist Church.

Rev. Bailey will be celebrating four years of service here on the first of January. Under his leadership the church has conducted a major stewardship campaign and is near completion of a new fellowship hall and educational building.

While here he has served on the Advisory Board of the Rappahannock County Senior Center and is currently a board member of Headwaters (Rappahannock County’s Public Education Foundation) and the Rappahannock County Cancer Association. He received the “Community Builders Award” in 1997 from the Washington Lodge #78 A.F. and A.M. Rev. Bailey is married to the former Karyl Northrop of Rockville, Md. and they have two daughters, Leah, a fifth-year graduating senior at James Madison University in graphic design and Lauren, a sophomore at the University of Richmond majoring in music education.
