Are you going to update your computer systems for the millennium?
I am appealing to business and industry with an opportunity to help others.
The Continuing Education Department at Carver-Piedmont is again offering a program, “Computers 4 Keeps” and it serves residents in our four county area, Culpeper, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock.
We were privileged with a donation of 30 computers, (model 486’s) which in turn, we donated to the public in our “Computers 4 Keeps” class. The only cost to the student was a small tuition and book fee, this paid the instructors salary and allowed the students to take home a manual. The students were given instruction on how to assemble and disassemble the computer and also on the software that was loaded into the computer. They will receive a total of 12 hours of classroom time, as well as a computer to keep for their own at the end of class.
Many people cannot, for one reason or another, afford to buy a computer. We feel fortunate to be able to offer this program, and hope to aid many of our residents in obtaining their first computer through our “Computers 4 Keeps” program in the future.
