The Rappahannock varsity and junior varsity basketball teams lost to Page County at their first home games, but both teams played better than they had at their first attempts against Page. The final score on the junior varsity game was 36-46 and for the varsity game, 58-70.
The junior varsity game started off badly for the Rappahannock Panthers. Bad passing and multiple fouls handicapped the team. Ly the end of the second quarter, the score was 12-26. ^ Rappahannock could not oome back and at the end of the third quarter, the score was 21-33. But then the home •team kicked in. John Letsen and Greg Jackson scored back to back. Then Kerry Grigsby, g’ot a three-point shot to place Rappahannock only four points behind Page, 36-40.
But then Page increased their lead by ten points with a drive that prevented Rappahannock from scoring and ended the game, 36-46.
Coach Luther Stanley said he was very proud of his team and there was nothing to be ashamed of. He said that at the last game against Page, his team had lost by 15 points.
