Ms. Vaughan was born" July 25, 1912, in Virginia, a daughter of the late Orbie and Effie B. Garrison Vaugh in. She was a member of Reliance United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn Burke of Rappahannock County; a son, James L. Vaughan of Brookville, Ohio; three sisters, Virginia Melton of Fairfax, Lillian Sesso of District Heights, Md. and Marjorie Trude of Dallas; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Jay Burke, Jeremy Woodall, Stephen Bailey, Abraham Burke, Ron Nicholson, Stan Miller and Rick Turpin.
