Sunday evening during the Flint Hill Auxiliary-Firemen’s Christmas party with a corsage which was presented her on behalf of the community by Henry Downing of Front Royal, also a former postal official. Mrs. Mabel Lillard, who is presently acting postmaster at Flint Hill, presented Mrs. Gentry with a decorated retirement cake which she shared with all present. Glenn Ransone has assumed the position of County Executive Director of the Rappahannock ASCS office". He is a native of King and Queen County and was formerly employed with the Virginia Department of Highways. He received a degree in Business Administration from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C. Peggy Clark of Flint Hill with Homick Co. Realtors was offering a lovely new home on three fenced acres in Amissville which featured a full basement with fireplace and double garage for only $46,500. Also featured was a 45 acre orchard With a variety of apples between Washington and Sperryville for only $1500 per acre.

Though official figures are not available, longtime Sperryville weather watcher Dennis Wingfield reported Wednesday that this month’s temperatures and snowfalls have set new records for the 20 years since he began observing the weather in the county. So far this month, Mr. Wingfield has measured 15 1/2 inches of snow at his backyard weather station in Sperryville, most of which is still laying on the hills and roadsides. —COMPILED BY; BARBARA C.
