Now they are listening to Charlotte’s Web with similar enthusiasm. Several children from the class, who were obviously enjoying the story, were overheard talking about the book in the library recently. It is wonderful to see children getting “hooked on books” so early!

• Ms. Payne’s class also wrote to President Bush recently to let him know what they are hoping he will do during his term as president. We should all follow the example of these children and become more actively involved in the political process.

• On March 2, Ms. Payne will be speaking to Headwaters-the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation and the School Board on what she perceives to be the future of public education. She was invited to speak by Mr. Dave Gillis, a member of Headwaters’ Board of Directors.
