Basketball

The RCHS squad ran into an old nemesis at the Madison County High School gym on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The occasion was a quarter-final game between the sixth place Panthers and the number three seed — the Mountaineers of Madison County.

The Rapp squad played well, but this was not the year that we would be the Mountaineers. The hot shooting Madison team jumped out to a 20 to 9 first quarter lead, as Daniel Mathers and Direll Humphrey each had a pair of baskets from beyond the three-point arch. After that, the Panthers played the Madison squad pretty even up. Spotting teams big first quarter leads has been the worst part of this years team play.

The hill to get back in the game gets too steep and Tuesday night was no differ
