The Holiday Inn in Culpeper was the site for the luncheon meeting of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter NSDAR on Feb. 13.

George Bryson, who has specialized in researching the original surveys of Culpeper was the speaker. George Washington was appointed surveyor of Culpeper County on July 20, 1749 and, two days after being sworn in, he made his first professional survey near present day Brandy Station. Mr. Bryson’s deed research has confirmed the location of this survey.

Reporting on National Defense, Mrs. James Ramsey, spoke of the U.S. Marine Corps hero who was the posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor for exceptional bravery and for whom the U.S.S. Cole was named.

The slate of officers for the following two year term was presented, voted upon, and will be installed in June at the annual picnic.

A bus trip of historic Lexington, will be April 10 and deadline for reservations is March 10.
