After a year of Rappahannock cell tower focus, the County’s Board of Supervisors began the process of ending debate by approving six of seven of the personal wireless services facilities proposed by Sprint,PCS.
The sole remaining tower to be considered is the easternmost facility located in the Amissville area. Sprint PCS’ application had included a 199 foot monopole at Robert and Joan Duxbury’s property off Route 639, north of US 211, but a concerted effort by Jackson District residents and fire and rescue volunteers appears to have been successful, and Sprint PCS has amended its proposal to allow for the option of locating that facility at the Amissville Fire Hall.
The “Duxbury” application will be readvertised, and a hearing, will be held on this last of seven towers at the December meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
Public hearings were slated at this Board of Supervisors meeting for the Duxbury site, as well as for the Miller and Huntly silos, but Chairman Pete Estes recommended tabling the Duxbury application, given Sprint PCS amendments, and the Board agreed.
The hearings were conducted on the two silo sites, but not until Wakefield District Supervisor Roger Welch offered a statement of recusal.
