Local winery wins
four gold medals
Gray Ghost was recently awarded four gold medals, a silver and a bronze, accolades on all six wines entered, at the Mid-Atlantic Wine Competition held in Winston-Salem, N.C. The most prestigious wine to capture a gold was Gray Ghost’s 1998 Resen/e Cabernet Sauvignon.
A limited-production wine, this Cabernet is being released to the public on Sunday, Nov. 11 - the only day it will be sampled in the tasting room. Additional gold medal winners were the 2000 Reserve Chardonnay, a 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2000 Adieu. Gray Ghost was awarded a silver for the 2000 Cabernet Franc and a bronze for the 2000 Chardonnay.
The Mid-Atlantic Wine Competition, held annually in conjunction with the Dixie Classic Fair, is open to all wineries in the Mid-Atlantic region. Gray Ghost was the only Virginia winery to medal. This is the third competition of the year that Gray Ghost has been awarded medals on every wine entered. Gray Ghost Winery can be contacted at 937-4869.

Theatre’s
production set
Tickets are now on sale for Windmore Community Theatre’s production of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest”. This Victorian farce, written by Oscar Wilde is sure to provide an evening of laughs.
Show dates are Nov. 9, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 11 and 18 at 3 p.m. at Culpeper County Middle School. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for seniors 65 and older and children 12 and under. For more information call 547-2555.
Workshop planned
for Nov. 9-11
A sculpture workshop, figure in clay, will be held Nov. 9-11 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Oldway Art Center, 11794 Lee Highway, Sperryville.
