Park to waive weekend fees
Interior Secretary Gale Norton recently announced that all entrance fees to national park areas will be waived during Veterans' Day weekend, Nov. 10, 11 and 12, to allow Americans to seek solace and inspiration from the nation’s parks, monuments and memorials as they recover from the Sept. 11 attack on America.
Whenever you plan a trip to Shenandoah National Park, it’s a good idea to call ahead to the park’s information line, 5490 999-3500, for the latest information on conditions and weather forecasts.
Clinic will be open Nov. 7
The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The clinic will be open Wednesday. Nov. 7 and not again this month until Nov. 28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Public Health Department Building. For additional information call 347-0394.
Reiki I workshop planned
Reiki I workshop will be held at Rappahannock Healing Arts in Sperryville on Friday, Nov. 9 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday Nov. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call Bertha Scholten at 948-5055 to register.
NSDAR members to meet
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Culpeper Public Library at 1:30 p.m. The program will be on Quilts - Old and New and feel free to bring a treasure with you.
DMV closed for Veteran *s Day
In observance of Veteran’s Day, all Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12. Offices will be open during regularly scheduled hours from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Services Board to meet
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at 15361 Bradford Road. Activities at Ragged Mountain
Ragged Mountain offers the following hikes and/or events. Contact Hunt Harris at 987-3366 for additional information.
• Second Saturday Hikes, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. Group usually meets at Mountainside Market west of Sperryville between 8-8:30 a.m. and caravan from there for a full day’s adventure along Rappahannock River Watershed upper tributary trails in SNP, finishing around mid-to-late afternoon. Participants should be fairly fit, bring nourishment for themselves and layerable clothing according to the weather of the day. Youth under 16 should have adult accompaniment. Specific destinations may vary according to group composition, weather or other factors.
Aerobic classes planned
Ongoing aerobic classes are held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8 to 9:30 a.m. For additional information call Beth Levick at 635-6149.
Bluegrass music concert set
A bluegrass music concert will be held at the new Madison County fire hall, located on Route 29 Business, on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. featuring Jesse Jenkins and the Blue Valley Boys. Donations will be accepted for the Madison Fire Department. Refreshments will be available.
