According to Soule the People Helping People organization is proposing to establish a ‘20-hour per week position Chat will focus exclusively on accessing medications for seniors that cannot afford them.
The person selected will need to establish relationships with doctors, nurses, pharmaceutical companies and clients to ensure a consistent supply and monitor any changes in medications.
A computer will be needed to set up a database for the application process and to track medication needs of clients. The Virginia Health Care Foundation has created a computer program called “The Pharmacy Connection” which will assist in this process.
Funds are needed to help establish this program. Hopefully, funds will be raised to carry the program through the first year.
