Lula Clemens
Born in Flint Hill
Lula Gentry Clemens of Richmond, 84, died Oct. 23 at Maguier Veterans Hospital.
A private service of internment is to be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mrs. Clemens was born March 4, 1917 in Flint Hill, daughter of W.C. Gentry and Edna Coppage Gentry.
In 1935, she graduated from Washington High School and in 1941 graduated from the Rockingham Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a veteran of World War II from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Army Nurse Corp.
Mrs. Clemens served in New Guinea and Brisbane, Australia. She received two bronze stars and an unit citation medal for Asia Pacific Service.
Mrs. Clemens is survived by her husband, William A. Clemens of Richmond and two sons, Lee Travis Clemens of Richmond and William A. Clemens II of Seaford; three grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Mrs. Clemens was predeceased by her parents; two brothers and one grandson.
