Bucky Pizzarelli, the famous f jazz guitarist, returns to The Theatre at Washington, for a concert on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. Chuck Redd will play both vibes and drums and Steve Novosel plays bass. Eighteen months has past since the trio was last here.
Pizzarelli’s long career spans the years from the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra to White House concerts with Benny Goodman and Frank Sinatra to the present day. The night before the concert in “Little” j Washington, he will be playing at Carnegie Hall with Skitch Henderson.
He has toured the world with Benny Goodman, Zoot Sims, Benny Carter, Barney Kessel and Charlie Byrd to name but a few. The New Yorker has written of him: “Guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, to borrow a phrase from Irving Berlin, just reeks with class. This consummate craftsman can seduce with velvety chords or rumble through a swing chorus with barrelling assurance.”
Chuck Redd made his international debut when he joined the Charlie Byrd Trio in 1980 at the age of 21. He now leads his own trio.
