Hampton District Supervisor Bryant Lee referred, on a few occasions, to favorable support that he has received from the community for Sprint PCS’ applications, and his comments and votes reflected that position.
The final tally: approval of Miller Silo, Huntly Silo, Nicholson Slope, Eastham Slope, Rose Hill Silo, and Welch Slope, and the tabling of Duxbury Isthmus until the December meeting. According to Mr. Buniva, it is likely that construction of the towers will be completed before the end of the first quarter of 2002.
Six Year Road
Plan Hearing
The cell tower hearing was preceded at the evening session of the Board of Supervisors meeting by a brief public hearing on the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Six Year Road Plan and Secondary Road Budget for Rappahannock County. Robert Moore of VDOT introduced the hearing by noting that budget projections for secondary road improvements are “flatlined” at approximately $800,000 for the next few years because of Virginia budget issues.
He then summarized his recommendations for County secondary road improvement priorities. These include widening gravel sections of Castle Mountain Road (Route 617), improving sections of Battle Mountain Road (Route 640), curve improvements on Woodward Road (Route 600), and drainage improvements and sidewalk construction on Main Street in Sperryville (Route 1001).
The entire plan includes thirty prioritized improvements, and Mr. Moore will be discussing individual plan projects with concerned residents and County officials before the Six Year Plan is finalized.
