Michael Soule, Senior Advocate of the R a p p a h a n n o c k - R a p i d a n Community Services Board and Sharon Pyne of the Rappahannock Department of Social Services hope to begin a new program in Rappahannock soon.
The program is being sponsored by “People Helping People", a member organization of the Senior Care Network.
The purpose of the program is to try and establish a vehicle to access prescription medications for low-income senior citizens. They are currently in the process of raising funds to get the project underway.
The project comes from the Fauquier and Rappahannock Senior Care Network, an organization of social workers, health care providers and caregivers serving the elderly in both counties.
Soule explains the situation: “One of the main problems facing the senior citizen population is the inability to pay for prescription medications. This is a major and well-documented problem in most areas of the county.
