What a beautiful week we had weather wise, we could stand a little rain, but I love the Indian summer we have had. Cold weather is on the way though!
The Amissville United Methodist Women will hold its annual Christmas bazaar and bake sale on Saturday Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be craft items, handmade Christmas ornaments, children’s items. White Elephant table, napkins, baked goods, fresh pecans, and bird feeder accessories.
Lunch will be served, come and enjoy and bring a friend.
If you haven’t noticed, VDOT planted 4000 flower bulbs in front of Hackley’s Store this week in the median. The flowers are in honor of Mr. Graham Hackley, 3500 in front of the store and 500 on the side that faces the old post office. We w'ill be planting a tree in front of Hackley’s Store, in memory of Mr. Hackley. I will let you know through this column when the ceremony will be.
The Amissville Ruritans are having their annual fruit sale. Please contact a Ruritan member to place your order for pink grapefruit and oranges.
Delivery will be before Thanksgiving.
And speaking of Thanksgiving, the annual Community Thanksgiving service sponsored by the Amissville Ruritans, Amissville United Methodist Church, Amissville Baptist Church, and the Amissville United Methodist Women will be held at the Amissville United Methodist Church this year.
The service will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 21. Please bring canned and boxed goods, and non-perishable items for our community food baskets, which we give out at Christmas. If there is anyone who can help with the baskets this year in December please contact me at 937-3401.
The Amissville Ruritans Christmas decorating contest is open to all residents of the Amissville and Viewtown area. The judging will be done by members of the Ruritans and will be on Dec. 21 and 22. Entry
