Tva&t A sting, a little catch to the breath to say the snap of cold has taken hold: A glaze upon the pumpkin’s smile, wryly cringing all the while I’m told - I sense a shiver through the day. a scarf I then unfold “to fling and cling” I add... against a freezing promise - but with it brings a happy burst of energy to sway away the sad.. (A mountain smile that sneaks upon a frown when down) “And cold invigorating air to blow the snow flakes through my hair”, I say “and linger for a while”... The murmur, of brittle breezes that teases frost to turn to snow from distant hills beguiles the air to begin to blow - its cold renown to numb the toes and nose. The cold and clear that births the night that dreams may turn to real; such black of sky - I wonder why, “The diamond stars can pierce with light through cold of night, like stakes of fire - born so white to burn our very eyes..” And here within this special place gracing every mountain’s face a sugar glaze of silver’d sparkles dance upon each blade of grass - and limb and glistens on the crispy fallen leaves I think - “alas, who knows at all how many petals pink and pale that shrink within it’s freezing gale?” A testimony to the frosty snub. To fall... Cynthia Stamps Woodville
