Randall Updike of Washington has been named to the Rappahannock County School Board to succeed Newbill Miller, who resigned recently.
Robert E. Moore has been named assistant resident engineer for the Warrenton residency of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation.
Moore, a native of Flint Hill, was construction project engineer for the department’s Leesburg residency. He succeeds Donald B. Gore of Sperryville, now assistant resident engineer ut Culpeper.
Winners in the Halloween pumpkin carving contest held Saturday included, honorable mention, Heather Kilpatrick of Woodville; Matthew Owings of Sperryville, second; and in first place, Denise Eidson of Amissville. The contest was sponsored by Eileen Day, Realtor.
