World War II Veteran
Harold Hopewell Artz Sr., 77, of Amissville died Saturday, Nov. 3 at his residence.
He was bom Sept. 8, 1924 in Strasburg, a son of the late Charles Mackel Artz and Rebecca Elizabeth Day Artz.
Mr. Artz was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in Strasburg and a past master and member of the Masonic Lodge in Clifton.
Mr. Artz worked for Rappahannock County as the landfill manager since his retirement from the government.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Stewart Artz; a son, Harold Hopewell Artz Jr. and his wife, Bridget of Stephens City and a daughter, Deborah Lee King and her husband, Buddy of Herndon.
Additional survivors include two grandsons; two granddaughters; two brothers and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Culpeper National Cemetery with Rev. John Crawford III officiating. v
Honors were provided by Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper VFW Post #2524.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
