The U-10 girls, Rappahannock Rapids, faced their most fearsome and ruthless opponent of the season this past Saturday: their parents and grandparents. It was a rugged and seesaw battle until the girls finally prevailed and we celebrated with a picnic. Many thanks to all the parents and grandparents who risked life and limb in the contest.
The Blue Lightning U-1'2 girls played their final game in Culpeper this past Saturday in a rematch from earlier this fall, when the Culpeper girls defeated our Blue Lightning 2-0. The Rapp girls really showed how much they improved as the Blue Lightning passed the ball well in an exciting game that ended in a 0-0 tie. Hannah Rosenbaum, Emily Carter, Ella Miller, Megan Wheatley and Kara Corbin all had shots on the Culpeper goalie, just missing each time. Noel Johns played excellent defense in front of the Blue Lightning goalies, frustrating the Culpeper forwards. Ella Miller, Megan Wheatley, and Emma Hathaway shared goalie duties for the Blue Lightning, each making big stops.
The Blue Lightning girls seemed to play better each week, and this week they played their best game of the season. I know their coaches and parents are proud of them. Congratulations girls! We are all looking forward to seeing you play again next year.
U-14 action had RIOT at home Sunday to face Orange U14 coached by Mr.Wilson.
