indigent drug^program that will make medications available to those who cannot afford them. Each company has its own application process and will give a threemonth supply, which can be renewed in most cases. However, the application is lengthy and requires the involvement of the client’s physician.
Turn around time is four to six weeks if all goes well. If a person is taking several mediations, several drug companies may be involved, necessitating several applications. If approved, the threemonth supply of medication is sent to the doctor.
These medications must be tracked, as the patient’s name is not on the shipping label and they can often end up in the doctors’ sample cabinet. Re-application can be made as long as the medication is needed but care must be given to re-apply in a timely manner in order to ensure the continuity of the medication schedule.
