Addressing attendees during the Public Comments portion of the November meeting of the Washington Town Council, Charlie Tompkins raised the specter of a celebration-free 2002 Independence Day in Washington.

Mr. Tompkins reported that few have volunteered to take the reins of Independence Day celebration management, and so the event could prove to be a non-event this coming year.
