It’s the same with snacks. Too many treats can disturb the pet’s digestion and cause stomach ailments and other unpleasantries that are compounded with holiday stress.
Remember, too, that some of the treats kept around for Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s can be poisonous to pets.
For example, chocolate may cause heart irregularities and possibly death. Mistletoe is also highly toxic to pets, especially the berries, and while poinsettias are not poisonous, they may cause diarrhea and cramps if ingested.
