Toy dinosaurs, Thomas the Tank Engine trains, Bob the Builder, Wendy the Builder, Lincoln Logs, Brio tracks, Play Mobil sets, puppets, dress-up dolls, Leap Pads, crafts, puzzles, and board games are expected to be the most popular holiday season gifts for children this year, according to veteran local toy retailers.
Elna McMann knows toys. She has watched toys come and go over the years as a mother of three sons — now grown — and as the owner of g. whillikers toy store in Warrenton.
McMann predicts toy trains will be on the wish list of preschoolers, and that the older kids will really want science and technical oriented toys.
“I think the Thomas Train series is going to be wonderful for that pre-school group,” she said. “I think we’re going to see a lot of the technical kinds of things with science do well with the older kids.
