mind. It is important that all of us attend, and that we encourage our friends and neighbors to attend, and listen, comment and ask quesr tions when they do not understand. These forums are meant to be informative, but also informal so that all in. attendance may feel comfort-; able about speaking up and participating in the event.
• Our students always come first! Learning for All; Whatever It Takes! This is the most important premise of; Effective Schools. But how do we achieve this? Are we on the ", right track? This writer is certain that we want to be.
The Effective Schools study should help us understand what we need to do better, and the forum on Dec. 6; should answer any questionsthat you might have.
The first of the series, scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at RCHS, will focus on “The Effective Schools Process”. Rappahannock County Public Schools and the Greve School Council have been busily training all teachers and staff in the tenants of Effective Schools. By Dec. 6 will have received the results of a study conducted to show us how well we are doing and. where our strengths and • weaknesses lie.
If you have heard the term; ! “Effective Schools” and want to know what it means to your child, please do not miss this opportunity.
• The Fall Session of Adult Education has just ended and we are looking forward to a very interesting and exciting line-up of classes for the Winter Session. Brochures should be available before Christmas, making classes an attractive gift option for the holidays. Classes are scheduled to begin in early February. If you have questions or would like to teach a class, please call Jan Makela, Program Coordinator, at 9878259. We are pleased to have had talented instructors, Roger Segalla, John Norman, Kathy Whelan and Lisa Amani assisting with Adult Ed this term. Many thanks to the community for supporting this wonderful program.
• Because of the abbreviated schedule of school days in November and December due to the holiday closings, we have scheduled just one RCHS Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting prior to Christmas. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 12 in the RCHS Culinary Arts room and all parents are invited to attend. The agenda for this meeting has not been determined, so please feel free to offer suggestions for topics of discussion. It is so important that parents participate in their children’s education. Parents often feel that their children don’t need them) as much when they become high school students, but in &is writer’s humble opinion, they probably need their parents’ involvement more than ever. Please get involved!
• RCHS parents, pleqse note that Junior Class rings will be delivered on Thursday, Nov. 29. Graduation announcements will !be ordered on Nov. 28. Make’-up Pictures for RCHS Seniors and Under-Classmen will.be taken on Tuesday, Nov. 27-. If you have questions about these or other RCHS events, please call Secretary Kelly Settle at 987-8575.
