Chris Johns, highly acclaimed National Geographic Magazine photographer and Woodville resident, will exhibit his newest photographs of the people and wildlife of Africa in Long View Gallery in Sperryville. The exhibit will run from Nov. 24 - Dec. 31 and there will be a reception for Mr. Johns on Nov. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is invited.
The African photographs of Mr. Johns are evocative and emotional images of the people, land and wildlife of a continent struggling to find the balance between new and old in a changing world. The show ranges from dramatic and troubling photojournalistic images to artful shots of breathtaking beauty.
His work combines the highest technical standards, a deep concern for conservation of the Earth’s natural treasures, and the eyes of a great artist. Many of the photographs in the exhibit have been included in the pages of National Geographic Magazine and on their web site.
Most will appear in a forthcoming book on Africa honoring Nelson Mandela.
