Will there be enough? That was the question Friday as people lined up at the Amissville Fire Department hoping to get their flu shot. By the time it was over, 359 shots had been given in five hours, with people forming a waiting line as early as 6 a.m.
With shortages nationwide, many elderly and those with low immunity Inve been quite concerned they might not be able to get flu shots tnis year.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, some 10.3 million doses of Aventis Pasteur influenza vaccine were shipped to state health departments earlier this month.
With the short supply, the CDC has set guidelines on who should receive the vaccine. As each person approached the door Friday, it was obvious that those guidelines were being followed by the RappahannockRapidan District Health Department.
