O’Connell taught the holiday cooking class to help raise funds for the Rappahannock Association for the Arts in the Community (RAAC).
The cooking class not only offered participants a unique opportunity to see the chef extraordinaire prepare a festive meal and learn his “secrets” and shortcuts, but to enjoy small portions of each dish. An added bonus was to watch and listen to a master showman as he explained in simple terms, often spiced with humorous anecdotes, how to make a festive dinner with readily available ingredients (except for the $500 truffle O’Connell passed around for people to see and touchbut not sample!)
Although the ingredients for a meal at the Inn “might look like a scavenger hunt,” O’Connell joked, “don’t be daunted. It really is rather simple!”
