Bob Lander was elected to serve as president of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection for 2005 by a new Board of Directors at its monthly meeting on Nov. 15.
Other elected officers are Paul Farmer, vice president, Beverly Hunter, secretary and Margaret Strawser, treasurer.
The organization recently held its annual meeting when the members elected 12 directors for 2005. In addition to the officers, the following are returning as directors: Phil Irwin, Emery Lazar, Don Audette and Paul Komar.
Marc Malik, a former director and president of RLEP, was elected to serve as a director' along with newcomers Alan Zuschlag, Joe Oliver and Roger Mello.
Lander announced that the executive committee will include the elected officers and Paul Komar. Paul Farmer will continue as chair of the membership committee until a new chair is appointed. The finance committee will include Paul Komar as chair with Margaret Strawser and Joe Oliver as members. Roger Mello will be the liaison with the county public schools.
Lander said that RLEP has several projects being carried over to next year, “not the least of which is the courthouse park beautification effort' with the Rappahannock Garden Club and the county.”
RLEP will celebrate its 35th birthday next year. It meets the third Monday of each month at the county library. Meetings are open to the public. More information can be found at www.rlep.org or call 987-8504.
