Bobby met his wife
I can remember vividly the first time. Bobby met his wife, Marcia. Her parents were driving around looking for property so they could relocate from the Fairfax area. Bobby and I were at my parents’ home on a Sunday afternoon shooting our 22 rifles. As Marcia and her parents got out of the car at the house next door, Bobby and I had to stroll down to see what was going on. Even then you just knew' something special was going to happen. It did—33 years of a great marriage.
After I graduated from high school, I was drafted in the military and sent overseas. It would be safe to say Bobby had never written a letter in his life but he wrote me on several occasions to make sure I was doing OK and to tell me everything was fine back home.
Later, I built a home in Sperryville one mile from him but I always wanted to move back to the hollow. In 1997 I built a home directly across the road from Bobby. We continued to spend all our free time together. We did a lot of gardening along with our hunting.
