Smokey Bear and Nathan Welch planted a tree at the entrance to the county library. The forest service arranged for trees to be given to each county this year, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Smokey’s activities as a symbol of forest fire prevention. Nathan is a member of the 4-H Junior Garden Club, which participated in the tree planting.

Letters are going out to county residents informing them of their new addresses. These addresses are being given out so that a call to the dispatch center in the Sheriff's office can be tied by computer to the location of the building from which the call came. The dispatchers can use this information to send fire trucks, ambulances, or sheriffs deputies to the correct location to
