Writing medalists

Writing medalists Emily Little and Caroline Massie were repeat medalists from the 2003 season. Little’s “Season’s in a Cabin” profiled a young Anne Margaret Walsh’s log cabin family life in Orange County, Va., during the late 1800s. The story was inspired by the real-life restoration of the Gilmore Cabin located in Orange County. Massie’s “A Peaceful Nature” tracked the efforts of four young students secretly aided by unseen’ residents as they protested the construction of a Wal-Mart in their rural county.

Two honor medals were awarded to Library Director David Shaffer for his continued support and beyond-the-call efforts to oversee the Wednesday morning Story Time checkout desk. The second medal was given to Sally Petty in recognition of her Books and Barks Reading Project.
