Rappahannock County Library’s summer “Olympic” reading club “Going for the Gold” resulted in the awarding of 13 gold medals and over 200 reading patches.
At the top of the reading and writing efforts was Jon Henry whose Olympian efforts resulted in being awarded two individual gold medals for logging 110 reading hours and completing the “A Likely Story” program in which he wrote and illustrated his own 16-page hardbound book.
Reading medalists
Joining Jon as reading gold medalists were Amber Blair, Helen Bowerman, Joanna Hughes and Laura Wheatley all of whom reached medal status by reading 60 hours. Blair and Wheatley duplicated their medal wins from the 2003 reading summer.
