Duties involve managing and supervising the activities of the Finance Department in the areas of general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, procurement, and risk management.
Qualified applicants must possess comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of finance and financial management. General knowledge of federal and state laws/regulations governing financial practices is required. Supervisory experience in a financial environment is important. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, public finance, or a related field, supplemented by six (6) years previous experience and/or training that includes governmental accounting/finance or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience is needed. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships is essential. RISK MANAGER
Announcement # FIN005 The Fauquier County Government is recruiting for the position of Risk Manager. The position is responsible for managing the County and Schools insurance programs, including health, liability, and property; formulating risk management policy and procedures; identifying and analyzing loss exposures; preparing financial transactions and analyzing financial data for programs; keeping administration and officials informed of significant exposure; and protecting the physical and financial assets as well as the employees of the County of Fauquier Government, School Board and the Fire and Rescue Association through the design and implementation of an effective risk management program.
Qualified applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, risk management, insurance, or closely related field; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes all aspects of risk management, safety, and loss prevention; and health insurance administration; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Minimum starting salary is $42,612.18. Position is open until filled
