“They (Strasburg) just had two players pulled up to varsity, and that threw them mentally. We wanted to capitalize on that from the beginning.”
The team’s goal was to make 60 percent of their free throws. Rappahannock exceeded that goal at 64 percent, making 9:14 baskets.

The Rappahannock girls’ varsity basketball team started off well against the Rams, but were unable to keep the momentum going, falling to Strasburg 64-32.
“We played a real good first quarter,” said Rappahannock Coach J.D. Almond.
Rappahannock played well — good passing, rebounding and team communication were keys to the home team keeping up with the Rams.
A 3-pointer as the clock ran out at the end of the first quarter, extended Strasburg’s lead, 13-9.
The home teams’ game deteriorated in the second quarter.
“We lost our focus,” said Almond.
The Rams hit the second quarter opening points, followed by another three-pointer to up the score to 18 for Strasburg.
