Rappahannock County public school students on what inspired them in the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sponsored by the Rappahannock National Bank, gift certificates and savings bonds were awarded to these students, by class:

• Fourth to sixth grade: Grand prize to Amy Cooper and honorable mention to Carolyn Vickers, both from grade four.

* Seventh to ninth grade: Grand prize to Paula Raney (9th grade at Rappahannock County High School); second place to Jacob Rosenbaum; and honorable mention to Noel Johns — all of the ninth grade).

The guest speaker was Larry M. Rogers, the first African-American mayor of Harrisonburg and a business executive who helped establish Shenandoah Engineering Services Inc.
