The series begins February 6, at Wakefield School in The Plains, with “Shenandoah: An American Icon” presented by Robert Jacobs.
Jacobs is the social studies coordinator for the Frederick County School System and an adjunct professor at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
His illustrated slide presentation focuses on the Shenandoah River and its influence on the history, development and future of the Shenandoah Valley into which the Mosby Heritage Area extends. The presentation will include incidents involving Confederate Col. John Singleton Mosby and Fauquier County native T\imer Ashby that occurred in the northern Shenandoah Valley.
On February 13, at Highland School in Warrenton, David Edwards will give a slide presentation entitled “Architectural Treasures of the Mosby Heritage Area”.
Edwards, an architectural historian, is the director of the Winchester Regional Office of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and has extensive experience in the architectural history of this area. His presentation will, focus on historic structures and their influence on defining this
