Having faced rival Wakefield of The Plains twice before this season and defeating them both times, the Wakefield Country Day School girls’ basketball team was pumped, expecting another win last week.
However the fourth-quarter mad-dash for the boards was not enough for the Owls to secure the game, downed bv the Fighting Owls, 33-27.
In fact, the 16-points on the board by WCDS surpassed the total for the first three quarters, 11-points.
“It just wasn’t our night offensively,” said WCDS assistant coach Wayman Edwards.
Jordan and Caitlin Hammelman led the scoring for the Owls with 9-points each.
