dies in ATV accident By Monty Tayloe Rappahannock News Staff Writer On Saturday, September 17 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Amissville resident Eugenia “Genia” Lynn Haught-Howard, 41, was killed while driving an All-Terrain Vehicle on South Poes Road, near Amissville Haught-Howard was on her way to a nearby cookout, driving her single seat 2003 Polaris 330 Trail Boss ATV with her 2-year-old great niece balanced in front of her when she lost control of the 4-wheeler. The vehicle ran off the right side of South Poes Road, where the recreational vehicle overturned. Both Haught-Howard and her great-niece j were ejected from the vehicle. The young child received only minor i scrapes but Haught-Howard struck her head on the ground, causing , severe head trauma which resulted in her death. “They had no protective clothing or helmet,” said Virginia State Trooper Don Corbin, who investigated the accident. 'M Virginia law requires that ATV operators wear helmets, and prohibit driving on public roadways except for situations where the driver is simply crossing a highway or is using the vehicle for farm use.
