Naming it “The Griffin Tavern” came easily as this mythological creature has many virtues and few vices.

One of Barten’s first moves has been to redecorate those dining areas that aren’t actually in the bar area.
“I want to extend that pub feel to the other rooms,” said Barten who has gradually seen to the repainting of walls and addition of draperies and new paintings. Now, there is the Rappahannock Room which boasts some of the drawings of local artist Tom Tepper. “I want to put some cushions on these chairs,”
