WARM WELCOME: In the Ballard’s honor, the American Flag was flown atop the factory.
the first computers? These types of cards were first created by Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1790 who designed the first loom that bears his name. Simply put, he created the looming process that uses a complex series of up and down movements of threads that are triggered by the preset design of holes on expansive punch cards.
Although most of the jacquard looms are now set up with a computerized system, they still apply the same process used for over 100 years and are carefully managed and repaired daily by factory loom workers.
The Ballards were warmly welcomed in Gerardmer, France, by Stephane Lacroix, General Manager of Le Jacquard Francais. The factory even flew the American flag above the factory in honor of their visit.
