Fund matters to
Rappahannock
Watching what has happened in once semi-rural Fairfax and Loudoun counties, many concerned citizens in Rappahannock have joined together to support efforts to purchase land threatened by development or to aid in the purchase of development rights on parcels with a high conservation value.
Examples of notable conservation efforts in our area abound, including purchases of large tracts of land to protect Monticello.
In nearby Albermarle and Clarke counties, purchase of development rights has helped working farmers who, without assistance from the Piedmont Environmental Council (which administers the Krebser Fund), would have been at risk of losing their land.
In Rappahannock, the Krebser Fund this year helped protect a 100-acre Jenkins’ family farm near Castleton
