Elementary school principal David Covington said he supports “anything we can do to emphasize and encourage patriotism”.

Elementary school band teacher and local event organizer Lynne Fournier valued the communal effort and fun spirit of the exercise. “We have started off with a very rough opening, a week late. This seems to bring them together. A lot of them dressed in red white and blue. They really got into the spirit of it.” .

It was an exercise in patriotism, an educational exercise teaching a bit of history and a bit of music, and a school spirit exercise to unify the children and teachers.
