Uncle Clyde

My uncle, Clyde Lillard, was something of a legend in our family, particularly, when it came to hunting. The stories, sometimes told about Clyde, and sometimes told about his father, Jim Lillard, have been passed down for ages. Nobody tells them anymore. The people have passed on, and the wonderful stories seem to have died with them.
For instance, it was said that Clyde could set up a strike anywhere match at 20 yards, and light it With a .22 bullet from his old open sight, single shot, bolt action .22. It was said that he could sharpen an ax to a keen edge, and sit it up in front of a 2 x 4 and shoot one time at the edge of the ax and two holes would show up in the 2x4, the bullet having been split by the edge of the ax. Nobody ever accused me of doing that.
