An area basketball coach who pleaded guilty to an indecent liberties charge in connection with an alleged incident involving a Fauquier County teen earlier this year received his sentence Tuesday.
At an afternoon hearing, Fauquier County Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Parker heard statements from the victim's father and the offender’s father before rendering his decision.
The victim's father testified that his daughter had trouble sleeping and that she "didn't even want to go near a basketball" since the alleged offense occurred. The girl's grades have slipped and she has received counseling since the incident, according to her father.
