NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ADOPT
REVISED COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
The Town Council and Planning Commission of the Town of Washington, Virginia, in accordance with §15.2-2204, §15.2-2223, and §15.3-2225 through §15.2-2228 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, shall hold a public hearing on Monday, October 24, 2005, at 7:30 PM, at the Town hall in Washington, Virginia, to consider the proposed revised Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Washington prepared over the past year by the Planning Commission and the Town Council’s intention to adopt the revised Comprehensive Plan. The revised Comprehensive Plan is a general, long range plan dealing with all aspects of zoning and physical development within the Town of Washington. Its revisions include, among other things, policies to implement sewer service within the Town, policies for connection to the sewer system, a Rural Preservation zoning classification for areas currently zoned Rural Residential with a maximum density of one unit per five acres unless a special use permit is granted, a transportation policy to maintain the current 2x5 road grid, provision of an Historic District Ordinance to preserve the historic designation and characteristics of the Town and development standards for new and infill building. The entire proposed plan should be inspected by interested parties. Copies of the plan are available for public inspection during normal business hours at the County Administration Office, and the Town Hall, at 290 and 485 Gay Street, respectively. All interested persons are invited to attend and present their views. Written comments will be accepted at the Town Hall, PO Box 7, Washington, VA 22747, until the conclusion of the Hearing.
