George L. Ohrstrom Jr.
tory dedicated exclusively to equine and field sports, Mr. Ohrstrom provided the leadership and vision for its growth from a few bookshelves to become the premier facility in its field in the nation today.
Known to his friends as "Buzzie," Mr. Ohrstrom worked largely behind the scenes in support of a wide range of Virginia conservation projects. Fellow Marine Corps and Virginia friend, journalist Arthur "Nick" Arundel termed him "a remarkable quiet doJr in a world of talkers." Peter Winants, a president of the National Sporting Library, said, "He just went out of his way to avoid accepting credit for what he did."
Mr. Ohrstrom is survived by his fifth wife, Jacqueline; his sister, Magalen O. Bryant of Middleburg; three sons, George F., Clarke and Wright Ohrstrom; and a daughter, Winifred O. Nichols. He also leaves five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Peter F.S. Ohrstrom. His previous marriages ended in divorce.
He will be buried at a private funeral service at his Silver Tip Ranch in Montana. A memo
